Little Surprises in a Big City
This is what I love about London: the many little surprises. Just tonight I was walking along Tottenham Court Road, headed toward the Marlborough Arms Pub for dinner, when I came across this building. There’s a pub on the ground floor, nothing too out of the ordinary, but the detail and artistry of the rest of the building is quite simply amazing!
Then there’s this little tower almost hidden from the street by the roofline of another building, which isn’t too shabby, either.
And of course there are the many elegant little parks and squares everywhere. We came across this one quite by accident and determined from our maps it must be Bedford Square. Those trees have certainly been standing there for many, many years, and it’s fascinating to imagine what events happened around them.
Those are just a few of the surprises I saw in one evening here in London. More will come soon, I’m sure.
